حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَقِيلٍ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ ثنا أَبُو إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْمُؤَدِّبُ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ أُمِّ هَانِئٍ بِنْتِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ قَالَتْ

خَطَبَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ مَا بِي عَنْكَ رَغْبَةٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَلَكِنْ لَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَتَزَوَّجَ وَبَنِيَّ صِغَارٌ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لِمَ؟ خَيْرُ نِسَاءٍ رَكِبْنَ الْإِبِلَ نِسَاءُ قُرَيْشٍ أَحْنَاهُ عَلَى طِفْلٍ فِي صِغَرِهِ وَأَرْعَاهُ عَلَى بَعْلٍ فِي ذَاتِ يَدِهِ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ proposed to me, and I said, 'It is not that I have no desire for you, O Messenger of Allah, but I would not like to marry while my children are young.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Why? The best women who have ridden camels are the women of Quraysh — the most tender to a child in his infancy and the most protective of a husband with regard to what he possesses.'
