✧ Umm Maimuna the servant of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْحَوْضِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ قَالَا ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ خُبَيْبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ عَمَّتِي وَكَانَتْ قَدْ حَجَّتْ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ بِلَالًا يُؤَذِّنُ بِلَيْلٍ فَكُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا حَتَّى يُؤَذِّنَ بِلَالٌ أَوِ ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ» وَكَانَ يَصْعَدُ هَذَا وَيُنَزِّلُ هَذَا فَكُنَّا نَتَعَلَّقُ بِهِ كَمَا أَنْتَ حَتَّى نَتَسَحَّرَ

✧ I heard my aunt, who had performed Hajj with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Bilāl gives the call to prayer at night, so eat and drink until Bilāl or Ibn Umm Maktūm gives the call.” One would ascend and the other would descend. We would cling to him, as you are, until we took the pre-dawn meal.
