حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ خَبَّابٍ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ الْبَلَوِيِّ عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ أُنَيْسَةَ بِنْتَ عَدِيٍّ

أَنَّهَا جَاءَتْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ابْنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ وَكَانَ بَدْرِيًّا قُتِلَ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ أَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ أَنْقُلَهُ فَآنَسُ بِقُرْبِهِ فَأَذِنَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَعَدَلَتْهُ بِالْمِجْذَرِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَلَى نَاضِحٍ لَهُ فِي عَبَاءَةٍ فَمَرَّتْ بِهِمَا فَعَجِبَ لَهُمَا النَّاسُ فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «سَوَّى بَيْنَهُمَا عَمَلُهُما» وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ رَجُلًا جَسِيمًا ثَقِيلًا وَكَانَ الْمِجْذَرُ قَلِيلُ اللَّحْمِ وَهُوَ الَّذِي يَقُولُ

✧ She came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, my son ʿAbdullāh b. Salamah — and he had been a participant in Badr — was killed on the day of Uḥud. I would like to move him so that I can find comfort in his nearness. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ permitted her. She placed him alongside al-Mijdhar b. Ziyād on a camel of hers, in a cloak. She passed by the two of them, and people were amazed at them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ looked at them and said: “Their deeds made them equal.” ʿAbdullāh was a large, heavy man, while al-Mijdhar was lean of flesh. He is the one who says [the poem].
