حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنِي عُتْبَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ التَّيْمِيُّ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ عُمَيْسٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ سَأَلَهَا «بِمَاذَا تَسْتَمْشِينَ؟» فَقَالَتْ كُنْتُ أَسْتَمْشِي بِالشُّبْرُمِ فَقَالَ «حَارٌّ حَارٌّ» فَقَالَتْ ثُمَّ اسْتَمْشَيْتُ بِالسَّنَى فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَوْ كَانَ فِي شَيْءٍ شِفَاءٌ مِنَ الْمَوْتِ لَكَانَ السَّنَى»

Translation

✧ That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked her, "What do you use as a laxative?" She said, "I used to use shubrum." He said, "Hot, hot." She said, "Then I used senna as a laxative." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If there were in anything a cure for death, it would be senna."
