حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْهَاشِمِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ قَالَتْ

قَدِمَتْ عَلِيَّ أُمِّي فِي عَهْدِ قُرَيْشٍ وَهِيَ مُشْرِكَةٌ إِذْ عَاهَدُوا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فِي مُدَّتِهِمْ قَالَتْ فَاسْتَفْتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أُمِّي قَدِمَتْ عَلِيَّ وَهِيَ رَاغِبَةٌ أَفَأَصِلُهَا؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ فَصِلِي أُمَّكِ»

✧ My mother came to me during the time of Quraysh while she was still a polytheist. They made a pact with the Prophet ﷺ during their time. I asked the Prophet ﷺ saying, "O Messenger of Allah, my mother came to me while she still desires the polytheistic ways. Should I maintain ties with her?" He replied, "Yes, maintain ties with your mother."
