حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثنا عَفَّانُ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ كَانَ بِعَيْنَيْ صَفِيَّةَ خُضْرَةٌ فَقَالَ

لَهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «مَا هَذِهِ الْخُضْرَةُ بِعَيْنَيْكِ؟» فَقَالَتْ قُلْتُ لِزَوْجِي إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ فِيمَا يَرَى النَّائِمِ قَمَرًا وَقَعَ فِي حِجْرِي فَلَطَمَنِي وَقَالَ أَتُرِيدِينَ مَلِكَ يَثْرِبَ؟ قَالَتْ وَمَا كَانَ أَبْغَضُ إِلَيَّ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ قَتَلَ أَبِي وَزَوْجِي فَمَا زَالَ يَعْتَذِرُ إِلَيَّ فَقَالَ «يَا صَفِيَّةُ إِنَّ أَبَاكِ أَلَّبَ عَلَى الْعَرَبَ وَفَعَلَ وَفَعَلَ» حَتَّى ذَهَبَ ذَاكَ مِنْ نَفْسِي

✧ The Prophet ﷺ said to her, "What is this greenness in your eyes?" She said, "I told my husband, 'I saw in what a sleeper sees a moon that fell into my lap,' and he slapped me and said, 'Do you want the king of Yathrib?'" She said, "And nothing was more hateful to me than the Messenger of Allah; he killed my father and my husband. But he kept apologizing to me and said, 'O Safiyyah, your father stirred up the Arabs and did such and such,' until that left my heart."
