حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ غُلَيْبٍ ثنا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ هَارُونَ الرَّمْلِيُّ ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَسْوَدِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ
أَنَّهَا بَيْنَمَا هِيَ تَمْتَشِطُ لَمْ يَرُعْهَا إِلَّا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُنَادِي عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَقُولُ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنِّي بَيْنَمَا أَنَا عَلَى الْحَوْضِ أُتِيَ بِكُمْ رُفْقَةً رُفْقَةً فَذَهَبَتْ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْكُمْ هَهُنَا وَهَهُنَا فَقُلْتُ مَا لَهُمْ هَلُمُّوا إِلَيَّ فَصَرَخَ صَارِخٌ فَقَالَ إِنَّهُمْ قَدْ بَدَّلُوا بَعْدَكَ فَقُلْتُ سُحْقًا سُحْقًا

✧ that while she was combing her hair, nothing startled her except the Messenger of God ﷺ calling from the pulpit, saying: "O people, while I was at the Pond, you were brought to me group by group. A group of you went this way and that way. I said, 'What is wrong with them? Come to me.' A crier cried out and said, 'They have changed after you.' So I said, 'Away with them, away with them!'"
