حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنْبَاعِ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ وَاهِبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمَعَافِرِيِّ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ تُخْبِرُ عَنْ أُمِّهَا أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ اعْتَكَفَ أَوَّلَ سَنَةٍ الْعَشْرَ الْأُوَلَ ثُمَّ اعْتَكَفَ الْعَشْرَ الْأَوْسَطَ ثُمَّ اعْتَكَفَ الْعَشْرَ الْأَوَاخِرَ وَقَالَ «إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ فِيهَا فَأُنْسِيتُهَا» فَلَمْ يَزَلْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَعْتَكِفُ فِيهِنَّ حَتَّى تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

✧ that the Prophet ﷺ performed i'tikaf the first year during the first ten days, then he performed i'tikaf during the middle ten days, then he performed i'tikaf during the last ten days. And he said, "I saw the Night of Decree in them, but I was made to forget it." The Messenger of God ﷺ continued to perform i'tikaf during them until the Messenger of God ﷺ passed away.
