حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ ثنا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَاحِدِ بْنِ أَيْمَنَ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ قَالَتْ
أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ لَمَّا خَطَبَنِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ قُلْتُ لَهُ فِيَّ خِلَالٌ ثَلَاثٌ أَنَا كَبِيرَةُ السِّنِّ وَأَنَا امْرَأَةٌ مُطَفَّلٌ وَأَنَا امْرَأَةٌ شَدِيدَةُ الْغَيْرَةِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَمَّا الْأَطْفَالُ فَهُمْ إِلَى اللهِ وَإِلَى رَسُولِهِ وَأَمَّا الْغَيْرَةُ فَأَدْعُو اللهَ أَنْ يُذْهِبَهَا عَنْكِ وَأَمَّا السِّنُّ فَأَنَا أَكْبَرُ مِنْكِ سِنًّا» فَتَزَوَّجَهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَهِيَ تُرْضِعُ بِنْتَهَا زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ فَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَدْخُلُ وَيَخْرُجُ وَلَا يَقْرَبُهَا وَكَانَ يُمَازِحُ ابْنَتَهَا إِذَا دَخَلَ فَدَخَلَ عَمَّارُ بْنُ يَاسِرٍ فَقَالَ أَيْنَ ابْنَتَكُمْ هَذِهِ الَّتِي قَدْ شَغَلَتْ أَهْلَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَخَذَهَا فَاسْتَرْضَعَ لَهَا سَعْيًا فَدَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «أَيْنَ زُنَابُ؟» فَقَالَتِ امْرَأَةٌ دَخَلَ عَمَّارٌ فَأَخَذَهَا فَاسْتَرْضَعَ لَهَا سَعْيًا فَدَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِأَهْلِهِ

✧ Umm Salamah said: “When the Prophet ﷺ proposed to me, I said to him: ‘I have three traits: I am old in age, I am a woman with many children, and I am a woman of intense jealousy.’ The Prophet ﷺ said: ‘As for the children, they belong to Allah and His Messenger; as for jealousy, I will pray to Allah to remove it from you; and as for age, I am older than you.’ So the Prophet ﷺ married her while she was nursing her daughter Zaynab bt. Abi Salamah. The Prophet ﷺ would enter and leave without approaching her, and he would play with her daughter when he entered. Then Ammar b. Yasir entered and said: ‘Where is this daughter of yours who has preoccupied the family of the Prophet ﷺ?’ He took her and sought a wet-nurse for her named Sa'yan. The Prophet ﷺ entered and said: ‘Where is Zunab?’ A woman said: ‘Ammar entered and took her and sought a wet-nurse for her named Sa'yan.’ Then the Prophet ﷺ consummated the marriage with his wife.”
