حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ ثنا أَبِي ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَمْرَةَ بِنْتِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ
عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ كَانَ بِحُجْرَةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ صِيَاحٌ فَخَرَجَ فِي رِدَاءٍ مُتَوَشِّحًا فَقَالَ «مَا هَؤُلَاءِ؟» قَالُوا يَخْتَصِمُونَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَقَضَى بَيْنَهُمْ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ قَالَ «إِنِّي لِأَقْضِي بَيْنَكُمْ وَلَعَلَّ أَحَدَكُمْ أَنْ يَكُونَ أَبْلَغَ مِنْ أَخِيهِ فِي الْكَلَامِ فَاقْضِي لَهُ بِمَا أَسْتَبِينُ فَمَنْ قَضَيْتُ لَهُ شَيْئًا لَيْسَ لَهُ فَإِنَّمَا أُعْطِيهِ حَدَّهُ مِنَ النَّارِ»

✧ On the authority of Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, she said: There was shouting in the room of the Messenger of God ﷺ, so he came out wearing a cloak thrown over his shoulders and said: 'What are these people doing?' They said: 'They are disputing, O Messenger of God.' The Prophet of God ﷺ judged between them, then said: 'I judge between you, and it may be that one of you is more eloquent in presenting his case than his brother, so I judge in his favor based on what I discern. If I award someone something that is not his due, I am only giving him a portion of the Fire.'
