حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي حَبِيبُ بْنُ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ الْمَجِيدِ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو وَالْقَاسِمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَخْبَرَاهُ أَنَّهُمَا سَمِعَا أَبَا بَكْرِ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ يُخْبِرُ
أَنَّ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّهَا لَمَّا قَدِمَتِ الْمَدِينَةَ أَخْبَرَتْهُمْ أَنَّهَا بِنْتُ أُمَيَّةَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ فَكَذَّبُوهَا وَيَقُولُونَ مَا أَكْذَبَ الْغَرَائِبِ حَتَّى أَنْشَأَ نَاسٌ مِنْهُمْ إِلَى الْحَجِّ فَقَالُوا أَتَكْتُبِينَ إِلَى أَهْلِكِ فَكَتَبَتْ مَعَهُمْ فَرَجَعُوا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ يُصَدِّقُونَهَا وَازْدَادَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ كَرَامَةً قَالَتْ فَلَمَّا وَضَعَتْ زَيْنَبُ جَاءَنِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَخَطَبَنِي فَقُلْتُ مَا مِثْلِي تُنْكَحُ أَمَّا أَنَا فَلَا وَلَدَ فِيَّ وَأَنَا غَيُورٌ ذَاتُ عِيَالٍ قَالَ «أَنَا أَكْبَرُ مِنْكِ وَأَمَّا الْغَيْرَةُ فَيُذْهِبُهَا اللهُ وَأَمَّا الْعِيَالُ فَإِلَى اللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ» فَتَزَوَّجَهَا فَجَعَلَ يَأْتِيهَا فَيَقُولُ «أَيْنَ زُنَابُ؟» حَتَّى جَاءَ عَمَّارُ بْنُ يَاسِرٍ يَوْمًا فَاخْتَلَجَهَا وَقَالَ هَذِهِ تَمْنَعُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَكَانَتْ تُرْضِعُهَا فَجَاءَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «أَيْنَ زُنَابُ؟» قَالَتْ قُرَيْبَةُ بِنْتُ أُمَيَّةَ وَوَافَقَهَا عِنْدَهَا أَخَذَهَا عَمَّارُ بْنُ يَاسِرٍ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَنَا آتِيكُمُ اللَّيْلَةَ» قَالَتْ فَقُمْتُ فَوَضَعْتُ ثِفَالِي وَأَخَّرْتُ حَبَّاتٍ مِنْ شَعِيرٍ كَانَتْ فِي جَرٍّ وَأَخْرَجْتُ شَحْمًا فَعَصَدْتُهُ لَهُ قَالَتْ فَبَاتَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ ثُمَّ أَصْبَحَ فَقَالَ حِينَ أَصْبَحَ «إِنَّ بِكِ عَلَى أَهْلِكِ كَرَامَةً فَإِنْ شِئْتِ سَبَّعْتُ وَإِنْ أُسَبِّعْ أُسَبِّعْ لِنِسَائِي»

✧ Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, informed him that when she arrived in Madinah, she told them that she was the daughter of Umayyah b. al-Mughirah, but they disbelieved her, saying, "How untruthful strangers are!" Eventually, some of them prepared to go for Hajj and said, "Will you write to your family?" She wrote with them. When they returned to Madinah, they confirmed her truthfulness and she gained even more respect from them. She said: When Zaynab was weaned, the Prophet ﷺ came to me and proposed to me. I said, "Someone like me should not be married. As for me, I am past childbearing, and I am jealous and have dependents." He said, "I am older than you. As for jealousy, Allah will remove it. As for the dependents, they are for Allah and His Messenger." So he married her. He would come to her and say, "Where is Zunab?" until one day 'Ammar b. Yasir came and snatched her away, saying, "This one prevents the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." She was nursing her. Then the Prophet ﷺ came and said, "Where is Zunab?" Quraybah bint Abi Umayyah said, and she happened to be with her, "'Ammar b. Yasir took her." The Prophet ﷺ said, "I will come to you tonight." She said: I got up and placed my leather mats, and I set aside some grains of barley that were in a jar, and I took out some fat and made a dish for him. She said: The Prophet ﷺ spent the night, and in the morning when he woke he said, "Your family has high regard for you. If you wish, I will spend seven nights with you, and if I spend seven with you, I will spend seven with my [other] wives."
