حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَائِشَةَ ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ثنا طَلْحَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْ
مَا صَلَّاهُمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عِنْدِي إِلَّا مَرَّةً دَخَلَ يَوْمًا بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةُ مَا كُنْتَ تُصَلِّيهَا فَنَزَلَتْ صَلَاةٌ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ قَالَ «لَا وَلَكِنْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ كُنْتُ أُصَلِّيهُمَا بَعْدَ الظُّهْرِ فَشُغِلْتُ عَنْهُمَا فَتَدَارَكْتُهُمَا»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never prayed either of the two [rak'ahs] at my place except once. One day he entered after 'Asr and prayed two rak'ahs. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, what is this prayer? You never used to pray it. And a prayer after 'Asr was revealed?" He said, "No, but they are two rak'ahs I used to pray after Zuhr, but I was distracted from them, so I made them up."
