حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْقَطَرَانِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَوْنٍ أَبُو عَوْنٍ الزِّيَادِيُّ قَالَا ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ نَافِعٍ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ وَأُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً قَالَتْ

يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ ابْنَتِي تُوُفِّيَ عَنْهَا زَوْجُهَا وَقَدْ خَشِيتُ عَلَى بَصَرِهَا أَفَأَكْحُلُهَا؟ قَالَ «كَانَتْ إِحْدَاكُنَّ تَرْمِي بِالْبَعْرَةِ عَلَى رَأْسِ الْحَوْلِ وَإِنَّمَا هِيَ أَرْبَعَةُ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرًا»

✧ O Messenger of God, my daughter's husband has died, and I fear for her eyesight. Should I apply kohl to her eyes?" He said: "One of you would throw a dung pellet at the end of a year, but it is only four months and ten days."
