حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ أنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أنا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ وَمَعْمَرٌ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ قَالَتْ
دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ هَلْ لَكَ فِي أُخْتِي بِنْتِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ؟ قَالَ «أَفْعَلُ مَاذَا؟» قُلْتُ تَنْكِحُهَا قَالَ «أُخْتَكِ؟» قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ «أَوَ تُحِبِّينَ ذَلِكَ؟» قُلْتُ نَعَمْ لَسْتُ لَكَ بِمُخْلِيَةٍ وَأَحَبُّ أَوْ قَالَتْ وَأَحَقُّ مَنْ شَرِكَنِي فِي خَيْرٍ أُخْتِي قَالَ «فَإِنَّهَا لَا تَحِلُّ لِي» قَالَتْ فَوَاللهِ لَقَدْ أُخْبِرْتُ أَنَّكَ تَخْطُبُ دُرَّةَ بِنْتَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ قَالَ «بِنْتَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ؟» قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَوَاللهِ لَوْ لَمْ تَكُنْ رَبِيبَتِي فِي حِجْرِي مَا حَلَّتْ لِي إِنَّهَا ابْنَةُ أَخِي مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ أَرْضَعَتْنِي وَإِيَّاهَا ثُوَيْبَةُ فَلَا تَعْرِضْنَ عَلَيَّ بَنَاتِكُنَّ وَلَا أَخَوَاتِكُنَّ»

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ entered upon me, so I said: "Would you be interested in my sister, the daughter of Abu Sufyan?" He said: "What would I do?" I said: "Marry her." He said: "Your sister?" I said: "Yes." He said: "Would you like that?" I said: "Yes, I am not leaving you alone, and the one I love—or she said: the one most entitled—to share good with me is my sister." He said: "She is not lawful for me." She said: "By God, I have been told that you are seeking Durrah bint Abi Salamah." He said: "The daughter of Abu Salamah?" I said: "Yes." He said: "By God, even if she were not my stepdaughter in my care, she would not be lawful to me. She is the daughter of my brother through breastfeeding. Thuwaybah nursed me and her. So do not offer me your daughters or your sisters."
