✧ The lineage of Talha b. Obaidullah

حَدَّثَنَا مَسْعَدَةُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ الْعَطَّارُ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ طَلْحَةَ التَّيْمِيُّ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ طَلْحَةَ عَنْ عَمِّهِ مُوسَى بْنِ طَلْحَةَ

أَنَّ طَلْحَةَ نَحَرَ جَزُورًا وَحَفَرَ بِئْرًا يَوْمَ ذِي قَرَدَ فَأَطْعَمَهُمْ وَسَقَاهُمْ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «يَا طَلْحَةُ الْفَيَّاضُ» فَسُمِّي طَلْحَةَ الْفَيَّاضَ

Translation

  3. Muḥammad b. Ṭalḥah al-Taymī
  4. Isḥāq b. Yaḥyá b. Ṭalḥah from his uncle Mūsá b. Ṭalḥah

✧ Talhah slaughtered a camel and dug a well on the day of Dhu Qarad, and he fed them and gave them to drink. The Prophet ﷺ said, “O Talhah al-Fayyad!” So he was called Talhah al-Fayyad.
