✧ The lineage of Talha b. Obaidullah

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ عِيسَى بْنِ مُوسَى بْنِ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ جَدِّي عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ طَلْحَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ ؓ قَالَ

سَمَّانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ طَلْحَةَ الْخَيْرِ وَفِي غَزْوَةِ ذِي الْعَشِيرَةِ طَلْحَةَ الْفَيَّاضَ وَيَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ طَلْحَةَ الْجُودِ «قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ» بِالسِّينِ وَالشِّينِ جَمِيعًا فَبِالسِّينِ مِنَ الْعُسْرَةِ وَبِالشِّينِ مَوْضِعٌ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ named me on the day of Uhud Talhah al-Khayr, and in the expedition of Dhu al-‘Ushayrah Talhah al-Fayyad, and on the day of Hunayn Talhah al-Jud. Abu al-Qasim said: with both sīn and shīn; with sīn it is from ‘usrah (difficulty), and with shīn it is a place.
