حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ ثنا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ فَرُّوخٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ أَبِي وَدَاعَةَ

عَنْ حَفْصَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ «لَمْ أَرَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي قَاعِدًا فِي سُبْحَتِهِ حَتَّى كَانَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُتَوَفَّى بِعَامٍ أَوْ عَامَيْنِ فَرَأَيْتُهُ يُصَلِّي قَاعِدًا فِي سُبْحَتِهِ وَيُرَتِّلُ السُّورَةَ حَتَّى يَكُونَ فِي قِرَاءَتِهِ إِيَّاهَا أَطْوَلَ مِنْ قِرَاءَتِهِ قَائِمًا»

✧ Hafsah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, said: “I did not see the Messenger of God ﷺ pray sitting in his voluntary prayer until a year or two before he passed away. Then I saw him pray sitting in his voluntary prayer, reciting the surah slowly until his recitation of it became longer than his recitation standing.”
