حَدَّثَنَا سَلَمَةُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْفَوْزِيُّ الْحِمْصِيُّ ثنا جَدِّي خَطَّابُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حِمْيَرٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْلَةَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ أَبِي وَدَاعَةَ السَّهْمِيِّ عَنْ حَفْصَةَ قَالَتْ

«مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَاعِدًا فِي سُبْحَتِهِ حَتَّى كَانَ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ بِعَامٍ وَاحِدٍ أَوِ اثْنَيْنِ فَرَأَيْتُهُ يُصَلِّي قَاعِدًا فِي سُبْحَتِهِ وَيُرَتِّلُ السُّورَةَ حَتَّى يَكُونَ قِرَاءَتُهَا إِيَّاهَا أَطْوَلَ مِنْ أَطْوَلَ مِنْهَا»

✧ “I did not see the Messenger of God ﷺ sitting in his voluntary prayer until a year or two before his death. Then I saw him pray sitting in his voluntary prayer, and he would recite the surah slowly until his recitation of it became longer than a longer one.”
