حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ الصُّورِيُّ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّ جَارِيَةً لِحَفْصَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ سَحَرَتْهَا فَاعْتَرَفَتْ بِهِ عَلَى نَفْسِهَا فَأَمَرَتْ حَفْصَةُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ زَيْدٍ فَقَتَلَهَا فَأَنْكَرَ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهَا عُثْمَانُ فَأَتَاهُ عَبْدُ اللهِ فَقَالَ إِنَّهَا سَحَرَتْهَا وَاعْتَرَفَتْ بِهِ وَكَانَ عُثْمَانُ أَنْكَرَ عَلَيْهَا مَا فَعَلَتْ دُونَ السُّلْطَانِ

✧ A slave girl of Hafsah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, cast a spell on her, and she confessed it against herself. Hafsah ordered ‘Abd al-Rahman b. Zayd, and he killed her. ‘Uthman disapproved of that, so ‘Abd Allah went to him and said, “She cast a spell on her and confessed it.” ‘Uthman had disapproved of what she did without the ruler’s authority.
