al-Mu'jam al-Kabir (al-Tabarani) 19602

✧ The interpretation of His saying: "Why have you not, when you heard it ('it' refers to the Prophet's ﷺ statement about the slander), yourself brought it forth by your own people, saying: ‘It is not for us to speak of this. Glory be to You (O Allah)! This is a great slander.’

حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ ثنا عَبْدُ الْغَنِيِّ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الثَّقَفِيُّ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَعَنْ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ بْنِ مُزَاحِمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ {يَعِظُكُمُ اللهُ

أَنْ تَعُودُوا لِمِثْلِهِ أَبَدًا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ} «يُرِيدُ مِسْطَحَ بْنَ أُثَاثَةَ وَحَمْنَةَ بِنْتَ جَحْشٍ وَحَسَّانَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ» {إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ} يَقُولُ «إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُصَدِّقِينَ بِاللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ»

✧ "That you should ever return to the like of it, if you are believers." He means Mistah b. Uthathah, Hamnah bt. Jahsh, and Hassan b. Thabit. {If you are believers} he says, "if you are truthful in Allah and His Messenger."
