حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ الْحَلَبِيُّ ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَبِي مَنِيعٍ الرُّصَافِيُّ أَخْبَرَنَا جَدِّي عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي نَمْلَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ أَبَا نَمْلَةَ
أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ بَيْنَا هُوَ جَالِسٌ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ هَلْ تَكَلَّمُ هَذِهِ الْجَنَازَةُ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اللهُ أَعْلَمُ» فَقَالَ الْيَهُودِيُّ أَنَا أَشْهَدُ أَنَّهَا تَتَكَلَّمُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَا حَدَّثَكُمْ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ فَلَا تُكَذِّبُوهُمْ وَلَا تُصَدِّقُوهُمْ وَقُولُوا آمَنَّا بِاللهِ وَرُسُلِهِ وَكُتُبِهِ فَإِنْ كَانَ حَقًّا لَمْ تُكَذِّبُوا وَإِنْ كَانَ بَاطِلًا لَمْ تُصَدِّقُوا»
Translation

✧ He informed him that while he was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, a Jewish man came to him and said, “O Muhammad, does this funeral speak?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Allah knows best.” The Jew said, “I bear witness that it speaks.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Whatever the People of the Book tell you, do not deny them and do not believe them, but say, ‘We believe in Allah, His Messengers, and His Books.’ If it is true, you will not deny it; if it is false, you will not believe it.”
