حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ ثنا أَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ عَنْ أَبِي كَبْشَةَ الْأَنْمَارِيِّ قَالَ

ضَرَبَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَثَلُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ أَرْبَعَةُ نَفَرٍ رَجُلٌ آتَاهُ اللهُ عِلْمًا وَمَالَا فَهُوَ يَعْمَلُ بِعِلْمِهِ فِي مَالِهِ وَرَجُلٌ آتَاهُ اللهُ عِلْمًا وَلَمْ يُؤْتِهِ مَالًا فَهُوَ يَقُولُ لَوْ آتَانِي اللهُ مِثْلَ مَا آتَى هَذَا لَعَمِلْتُ فِيهِ كَمَا يَعْمَلُ فَهُمَا فِي الْأَجْرِ سَوَاءٌ وَرَجُلٌ آتَاهُ اللهُ مَالًا وَلَمْ يُؤْتِهِ عِلْمًا فَسَلَّطَهُ عَلَى هَلَكَتِهِ فِي غَيْرِ الْحَقِّ لَا يَتَّقِي فِيهِ رَبًّا وَلَا يَصِلُ فِيهِ رَحِمًا وَرَجُلٌ لَمْ يُؤْتِهِ اللهُ عِلْمًا وَلَمْ يُؤْتِهِ مَالًا فَهُوَ يَقُولُ لَوْ آتَانِي اللهُ مِثْلَ مَا آتَى هَذَا لَعَمِلْتُ فِيهِ مِثْلَ مَا يَعْمَلُ فَهُمَا فِي الْوِزْرِ سَوَاءٌ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave me the example of this community as four people: a man whom Allah gave knowledge and wealth, and he acts on his knowledge with his wealth; a man whom Allah gave knowledge but not wealth, and he says, ‘If Allah had given me like what He gave this man, I would do with it as he does.’ They are equal in reward. And a man whom Allah gave wealth but not knowledge, so He lets him squander it in falsehood, not fearing a Lord in it nor maintaining ties of kinship with it. And a man whom Allah gave neither knowledge nor wealth, and he says, ‘If Allah had given me like what He gave this man, I would do with it as he does.’ They are equal in sin.”
