حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ رَاهَوَيْهِ ثَنَا أَبِي ثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْعَنْقَزِيّ ثَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ أَبِي الْجُوَيْرِيَةَ وَاسْمُهُ حِطَّانُ بْنُ خُفَافٍ حَدَّثَنِي مَعْنُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ قَالَ

كَانَ أَبِي يَزِيدَ خَرَج بِدَنَانِيرَ لَيَتَصَدَّقَ بِهَا فَدَفَعَهَا إِلَيَّ فَقَالَ ادْفَعْهَا إِلَى رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَدَفَعْتُهَا إِلَى غَيْرِهِ ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُ أَبِي فَأَخْبَرْتُه فَقَالَ لَيْسَ ذَاكَ أَرَدْتُ فَخَاصَمْتُهُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَكَ يَا مَعْنُ مَا أَخَذْتَ وَقَالَ لِأَبِي لَكَ يَا يَزِيدُ مَا نَوَيْتَ

Translation

✧ My father Yazid went out with some dinars to give as charity. He gave them to me and said, "Give them to a man from the mosque." I gave them to someone else. Then I went to my father and told him. He said, "That is not what I intended." I took the matter to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said to me, "O Ma'n, you have what you took," and to my father, "O Yazid, you have what you intended."
