حَدَّثَنَا أَسْلَمُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ وَهْبٍ الْعَلَّافُ ثَنَا خَالِدُ بْن عَمْرٍو الْأُمَوِيُّ ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

أَنْشَدْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ شِعْرِ أُمَيَّةَ بْنِ أَبِي الصَّلْتِ مِائَةَ قَافِيَةٍ كُلَّمَا مَرَرْتُ بِبَيْتٍ قَالَ هِيهِ وَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ فِي مَجْلِسِهِ ذَلِكَ الْجَارُ أَحَقُّ بِسَقَبِهِ

✧ I recited to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one hundred verses of the poetry of Umayyah b. Abi al-Salt. Whenever I passed a verse, he said, "Continue." And I heard him say in that gathering, "The neighbor has more right to his property that is close to him."
