حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثَنَا أَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ ثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ السَّائِبِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ السُّوَائِيِّ قَالَ

عِنْدَ اِنْكَشَافَةِ اِنْكَشَفَهَا الْمُسْلِمُونَ يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ فَتَتَبَّعَهُمُ الْكُفَّارُ فَأَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَبْضَةً مِنَ الأَرْضِ فَرَمَى بِهِ وُجُوهَهُمْ وَقَالَ ارْجِعُوا شَاهَتِ الْوُجُوهُ فَمَا مِنَّا أَحَدٌ يَلْقَى أَخَاهُ إِلَّا وَهُو يَشْكُو الْقَذَى وَيَمْسَحُ عَيْنَيْهِ

✧ When the Muslims were routed on the day of Hunayn and the disbelievers pursued them, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took a handful of earth and threw it in their faces, saying, "Turn back! May the faces be ugly!" None of us met his brother except that he complained of grit and was wiping his eyes.
