حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ هَزَّالٍ عَنْ جَدِّهِ

أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِمَاعِزِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ اذْهَبْ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَخْبِرْهُ بِحَدِيثِكَ فَأَتَاهُ فَأَخْبَرَهُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مِرَارًا فَجَعَلَ يُرَدِّدُ ذَلِكَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَبَعَثَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِلَى قَوْمِهِ فَقَالَ «أَبِهِ جُنُونٌ» قَالُوا لَا قَالَ «أَبِكْرٌ أَمْ ثَيِّبٌ؟» قَالُوا بَلْ ثَيِّبٌ قَالَ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ فَرُجِمَ قَالَ «وَيْحَكَ يَا هَزَّالُ لَوْ سَتَرْتَهُ بِرِدَائِكَ كَانَ خَيْرًا لَكَ»

✧ He said to Ma'iz b. Malik: Go to the Prophet ﷺ and tell him your story. So he came to him and told him, but the Prophet ﷺ turned away from him several times. He kept repeating that to the Prophet ﷺ, so the Prophet ﷺ sent to his people and said: "Does he have insanity?" They said: No. He said: "Is he a virgin or a previously married man?" They said: Rather, a previously married man. He said: So he ordered that he be stoned. He said: "Woe to you, O Hazzal! If you had covered him with your cloak, it would have been better for you."
