✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ established brotherhood between Salman and Abu al-Darda. Salman came to visit Abu al-Darda and found Umm al-Darda in worn-out clothing. He said, "What is the matter with you, O Umm al-Darda?" She said, "Your brother Abu al-Darda stands in prayer at night and fasts during the day, and he has no need for anything of this world." Abu al-Darda came and welcomed Salman and brought him some food. Salman said to him, "Eat." He said, "I am fasting." Salman said, "I swear you must break your fast." He refused to eat until he ate with him, so he ate with him. Then he spent the night at his place. When it was night, Abu al-Darda wanted to get up, but Salman prevented him. Then he said, "O Abu al-Darda, your body has a right over you, your Lord has a right over you, and your family has a right over you. Give every rightful one his due." When it was near dawn, he said, "Now get up if you wish." So they both got up, performed ablution, and prayed. Then they went out to the prayer. Abu al-Darda approached to inform the Messenger of God ﷺ, and the Messenger of God ﷺ said, "Your body has a right over you, just as Salman said."
