✧ The one whose name is Wathila Wathila bin al-Asqai al-Laythi is known as Abu al-Asqai and also known as Abu Qirsafa and also known as Abu Shaddad used to reside in Damascus, in the Sham region. He is Wathila bin al-Asqai bin Abdul-Aziz bin Abdul-Yaalil bin Nashib bin Ghayra bin Saad bin Layth bin Bakr bin Abda Manat bin Kinana.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ ثنا مُصْعَبُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مِحْصَنٍ عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ قَذَفَ ذِمِّيًّا حُدَّ لَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ بِسِياطٍ مِنْ نَارٍ» فَقُلْتُ لِمَكْحُولٍ مَا أَشَدُّ مَا يُقَالُ قَالَ يُقَالُ لَهُ «يَا ابْنَ الْكَافِرِ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever slanders a dhimmi, he will be flogged on the Day of Resurrection with whips of fire." I said to Makhul: "What is the harshest thing that can be said?" He said: "It is said to him: 'O son of a disbeliever.'"
