✧ I said, 'I will certainly look at the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to see how he prays.' So I observed him: he said the takbir and raised his hands until they were level with his ears, then he placed his right hand over the back of his left hand, between the wrist and the forearm. Then when he wanted to bow, he raised his hands similarly and placed his hands on his knees. Then he raised his head, raising his hands similarly. Then he prostrated, placing his palms in line with his ears. Then he sat, spreading his left leg, and placed his left hand [on his left thigh]; he placed the edge of his right elbow on his right thigh, then he closed two of his fingers and made a circle [with his thumb and middle finger], then he raised his finger, and I saw him moving it, supplicating with it. Then I came later, in a time of cold, and I saw the people wearing heavy garments and moving their hands from beneath the clothes.' And the wording is from the hadith of Mu'awiya b. 'Amr.
