حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّائِغُ الْمَكِّيُّ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ حِسَابٍ ثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ وَعَمْرِو بْنِ صَالِحٍ وَحُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَجَدَ رِيحَ ثُومٍ فَقَالَ «فَمَنْ هَذَا؟» قَالَ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ أَعْزِمُ عَلَيْكَ أَوْ أَقْسَمْتُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَمَا أَدْخَلْتَ يَدَكَ فَإِذَا عَلَى صَدْرِه حِزَامٌ قَالَ «أَرَى لَكَ عُذْرًا»

✧ The Prophet ﷺ noticed the smell of garlic and said, "Who is this?" Al-Mughira b. Shu'ba said, "I adjure you, or I swear to you, O Messenger of Allah, to put your hand in." When he did, there was a bandage on his chest. He said, "I see that you have an excuse."
