حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ نَجْدَةَ الْحَوْطِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْوَهْبِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ رُكَانَةَ عَنْ أُمِّهِ عَائِشَةَ بِنْتِ مَسْعُودِ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ عَنْ أَبِيهَا قَالَ لَمَّا سَرَقَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ الْقَطِيفَةَ
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَعْظَمْنَا ذَلِكَ وَكَانَتْ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ فَجِئْنَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَكَلَّمْنَاهُ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ نَفْدِيهَا بِأَرْبَعِينَ أُوقِيَّةً فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «تُطَهَّرُ خَيْرٌ لَهَا» فَلَمَّا سَمِعْنَاها لِينَ قَوْلِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ انْطَلَقْنَا إِلَى أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ وَكَلَّمْنَاهُ فَقُلْنَا اشْفَعْ لَنَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي شَأْنِ هَذِهِ الْمَرْأَةِ وَنَفْدِيهَا بِأَرْبَعِينَ أُوقِيَّةً فَلَمَّا رَأَى ذَلِكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَامَ فِينَا خَطِيبًا فَقَالَ «يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ» مَا إِكْثَارُكُمْ فِي حَدٍّ مِنْ حُدُودِ اللهِ وَقَعَ عَلَى أَمَةٍ مِنْ إِمَاءِ اللهِ؟ فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَوْ أَنَّ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتَ مُحَمَّدٍ قَرِفَتْ بِمَا نَزَلَتْ بِهِ هَذِهِ لَقَطَعْتُ يَدَهَا فَيَئِسَ النَّاسُ فَقَطَعَ يَدَهَا

✧ We heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and that distressed us greatly, for she was from Quraysh. We came to the Prophet ﷺ and spoke to him, saying: 'O Messenger of Allah, we will ransom her for forty uqiyyahs.' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'That she be purified is better for her.' When we heard the softness of the Messenger of Allah's words, we went to Usamah b. Zayd and spoke to him, saying: 'Intercede for us with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ concerning this woman, and we will ransom her for forty uqiyyahs.' When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw that, he stood among us as a preacher and said: 'O people, why do you insist so much regarding one of the limits set by Allah that has fallen upon a maidservant among the maidservants of Allah? By the One in whose hand is my soul, if Fatimah daughter of Muhammad had committed what this woman has fallen into, I would cut off her hand.' The people despaired, and he cut off her hand.
