حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ حَدَّثَنِي كَهْمَسُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ حَدَّثَنِي هَرِمُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ وَأُسَامَةُ بْنُ خُرَيْمٍ وَكَانَا يُضَارِبَانِ فَحَدَّثَانِي حَدِيثًا وَلَا يَشْعُرُ أَحَدُهُمَا أَنَّ صَاحِبَهُ حَدَّثَنِيهِ عَنْ مُرَّةَ الْبَهْزِيِّ قَالَ
بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي طَرِيقِ الْمَدِينَةِ فَقَالَ «كَيْفَ تَصْنَعُونَ بِفِتْنَةٍ تَثُورُ فِي أَقْطَارِ الْأَرْضِ كَأَنَّهَا صَيَاصِي بَقَرٍ؟» قَالُوا فَنَصْنَعُ مَاذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ «عَلَيْكُمْ بِهَذَا وَأَصْحَابِهِ أَوِ اتَّبَعُوا هَذَا وَأَصْحَابَهُ » وَأَسْرَعْتُ حَتَّى عَطَفْتُ الرَّجُلَ فَقُلْتُ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ هَذَا؟ قَالَ «هَذَا» فَإِذَا هُوَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ

✧ While we were with the Messenger of God ﷺ on the road to Madinah, he said, "What will you do about a tribulation that will arise in the regions of the earth like the horns of cattle?" They said, "What should we do, O Messenger of God?" He said, "You must adhere to this man and his companions," or "Follow this man and his companions." I hurried until I turned the man around and said, "O Prophet of God, this one?" He said, "This one." And it turned out he was ʿUthmān b. ʿAffān.
