حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا عَارِمٌ أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ ثنا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ ثنا كَهْمَسُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ ثنا هَرِمُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ وَأُسَامَةُ بْنُ خُرَيْمٍ وَكَانَا يُضَارِبَانِ عَلَى مُرَّةَ الْبَهْزِيِّ قَالَ
كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي طَرِيقِ الْمَدِينَةِ فَقَالَ «كَيْفَ تَصْنَعُونَ فِي فِتْنَةٍ تَكُونُ فِي أَقْطَارِ الْأَرْضِ كَأَنَّهَا صَيَاصِي بَقَرٍ؟» قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كَيْفَ نَصْنَعُ؟ وَبَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ «اتَّبِعُوا هَذَا وَأَصْحَابَهُ» فَانْطَلَقْتُ إِلَيْهِ وَهُوَ مُسْرِعٌ فَأَخَذْتُ الرَّجُلَ فَعَطَفْتُهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَقُلْتُ هَذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» قَالَ وَهُوَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ

✧ We were with the Messenger of God ﷺ on the road to Madinah when he said, "What will you do in a tribulation that will spread through the regions of the earth like the horns of cattle?" We said, "O Messenger of God, what should we do?" A man was in front of him, so he said, "Follow this man and his companions." I went quickly to that man, who was hastening, and I took hold of him and turned him toward the Prophet ﷺ and said, "This one, O Messenger of God?" He said, "Yes." He said, "He was ʿUthmān b. ʿAffān."
