حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ مِقْلَاصٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ ثنا أَبِي ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مَتَوَيْهِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ ثنا عَمِّي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ أَنَّ الْمُسْتَوْرِدَ بْنَ شَدَّادٍ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ وَالرُّومُ أَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ» فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ عَمْرُو بْنَ الْعَاصِ فَقَالَ «مَا هَذِهِ الْأَحَادِيثُ الَّتِي تُذْكَرُ عَنْكَ؟» فَقَالَ لَهُ الْمُسْتَوْرِدُ قُلْتُ الَّذِي سَمِعْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ عَمْرٌو «لَئِنْ قُلْتَ ذَاكَ لِأَحْلَمِ النَّاسِ عِنْدَ فِتْنَةٍ وَأَصْبَرِ النَّاسِ عِنْدَ مُصِيبَةٍ وَخَيْرِ النَّاسِ لِضُعَفَائِهِمْ وَلِمَسَاكِينِهِمْ»

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "The Hour will not come until the Romans are the most numerous of people." This reached 'Amr b. al-'As, who said: "What are these reports that are mentioned from you?" Al-Mustawrid said to him: "I said what I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." 'Amr said: "If you say that, they are the most forbearing of people at the time of calamity, the most patient of people at the time of affliction, and the best of people to their weak and their poor."
