حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا يَزِيدُ عَنْ جَرِيرٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ قَالَ
جَاءَ الْعَبَّاسُ إِلَى نَبِيِّ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ مُغْضَبٌ فَقَالَ «مَا أَتَى بِكَ؟» قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا لَنَا وَلِقُرَيْشٍ؟ قَالَ «مَا لَكَ وَلَهُمْ حَتَّى أَتَى بِكَ؟» قَالَ يَلْقَى بَعْضُهُمْ بَعْضًا بِوُجُوهٍ مُشْرِقَةٍ فَإِذَا لَقُونَا لَقُونَا بِغَيْرِ ذَلِكَ فَغَضِبَ حَتَّى اسْتَدَرَّ عِرْقٌ بَيْنَ عَيْنَيْهِ فَلَمَّا سُرِّيَ عَنْهُ قَالَ «وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَا يَدْخُلُ قَلْبَ رَجُلٍ إِيمَانٌ حَتَّى يُحِبَّكُمْ لِلَّهِ وَلِرَسُولِهِ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «مَا بَالُ رِجَالٍ يُؤْذُونَنِي فِي الْعَبَّاسِ؟ فَإِنَّ عَمَّ الرَّجُلِ صِنْوُ أَبِيهِ»

✧ Al-'Abbas came to the Prophet of Allah ﷺ angry, and he said: “What brought you?” He said: “O Messenger of Allah, what is it between us and Quraysh?” He said: “What is it between you and them that brought you here?” He said: “They meet one another with radiant faces, but when they meet us, they meet us with something other than that.” He became angry until a vein between his eyes throbbed. When his anger subsided, he said: “By the One in whose hand is my soul, faith will not enter the heart of a man until he loves you for the sake of Allah and His Messenger.” Then he said: “What is the matter with men who harm me concerning al-'Abbas? Verily, a man's paternal uncle is of the same stock as his father.”
