حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ زِبْرِيقٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ ثنا أَبِي ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عُمَارَةُ بْنُ وَثِيمَةَ الْمِصْرِيُّ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْعُتْبِيُّ قَالَا ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ زِبْرِيقٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ عَنِ الزُّبَيْدِيِّ حَدَّثَنِي الْفُضَيْلُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ أَنَّ حَبِيبَ بْنَ عُبَيْدٍ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ الْمِقْدَامَ حَدَّثَهُمْ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَطِيعُوا أُمَرَاءَكُمْ مَهْمَا كَانَ فَإِنْ أَمَرُوكُمْ بِشَيْءٍ مِمَّا جِئْتُكُمْ بِهِ فَإِنَّهُمْ يُؤْجَرُونَ عَلَيْهِ وَتُؤْجَرُونَ بِطَاعَتِهِمْ وَإِنْ أَمَرُوكُمْ بِشَيْءٍ مِمَّا لَمْ آتِكُمْ بِهِ فَإِنَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَأَنْتُمْ مِنْهُ بَرَاءٌ ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّكُمْ إِذَا لَقِيتُمُ اللهَ قُلْتُمْ رَبَّنَا لَا ظُلْمَ فَيَقُولُ لَا ظُلْمَ فَتَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا أَرْسَلْتَ إِلَيْنَا رُسُلًا فَأَطَعْنَاهُمْ بِإِذْنِكَ وَاسْتَخْلَفْتَ عَلَيْنَا خُلَفَاءَ فَأَطَعْنَاهُمْ بِإِذْنِكَ وَأَمَّرْتَ عَلَيْنَا أُمَرَاءَ فَأَطَعْنَاهُمْ لَكَ فَيَقُولُ صَدَقْتُمْ هُوَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَأَنْتُمْ مِنْهُ بَرَاءٌ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Obey your rulers whatever the case. If they command you to something of what I brought you, then they are rewarded for it and you are rewarded for obeying them. If they command you to something of what I did not bring you, then it is upon them and you are free of it. That is because when you meet Allah, you will say: ‘Our Lord, no injustice.’ He will say: ‘No injustice.’ Then you will say: ‘Our Lord, You sent messengers to us and we obeyed them by Your permission; You appointed successors over us and we obeyed them by Your permission; and You placed rulers over us and we obeyed them for You.’ He will say: ‘You have spoken truth. It is upon them and you are free of it.’”
