حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ وَالْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ قَالَا ثنا يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَلْمٍ الرَّازِيُّ ثنا سَهْلُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ قَالُوا ثنا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ أَبِي الْعُمَيْسِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَبْرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ جَبْرٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَادَهُ فِي مَرَضِهِ فَقَالَ قَائِلٌ إِنْ كُنَّ لَنَرْجُو أَنْ يَكُونَ وَفَاتُهُ قَتْلًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ شُهَدَاءَ أُمَّتِي إِذًا لَقَلِيلٌ الْقَتِيلُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ شَهِيدٌ وَالْمَبْطُونُ شَهِيدٌ وَالْمَطْعُونُ شَهِيدٌ وَالْغَرِيقُ شَهِيدٌ وَالْحَرِقُ شَهِيدٌ وَالْمَجْنُوبُ شَهِيدٌ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ visited him during his illness, and someone said, “We had certainly hoped that his death would be a killing in the path of Allah.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “In that case, the martyrs of my nation would indeed be few. The one killed in the path of Allah is a martyr, the one with a stomach disease is a martyr, the one who dies of plague is a martyr, the one who drowns is a martyr, the one who dies by fire is a martyr, and the one with pleurisy is a martyr.”
