حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ثنا خَالِدٌ عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ مَعْقِلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ قَالَ
«بَايَعْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ وَأَنَا أَرْفَعُ غُصْنَ الشَّجَرَةِ عَنْ وَجْهِهِ فَبَايَعْنَاهُ عَلَى أَنْ لَا نَفِرَّ وَلَمْ نُبَايِعْهُ عَلَى الْمَوْتِ» فَقُلْنَا لَهُ كَمْ كُنْتُمْ؟ قَالَ أَلْفٌ وَأَرْبَعُمِائَةٍ

✧ "We pledged allegiance to the Messenger of God ﷺ on the day of Hudaybiyyah while I was lifting a branch of the tree from his face. We pledged allegiance to him that we would not flee, and we did not pledge allegiance to him upon death." We said to him, "How many were you?" He said, "One thousand four hundred."
