حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ الدُّهْنِيُّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ ؓ قَالَ

حَمَلَنِي خَالِي جَدُّ بْنُ قَيْسٍ فِي سَبْعِينَ رَاكِبًا الَّذِينَ وَفَدُوا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَمَعَهُ عَمُّهُ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ فَقَالَ «يَا عَمِّ خُذْ عَلَى أَخْوَالِكَ» فَقَالَ لَهُ السَّبْعُونَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ سَلْ لِرَبِّكَ وَلِنَفْسِكَ مَا شِئْتَ قَالَ «أَمَّا الَّذِي أَسْأَلُكُمْ لِرَبِّي فَتَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا تُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا وَأَمَّا الَّذِي أَسْأَلُكُمْ لِنَفْسِي فَتَمْنَعُونِي مِمَّا تَمْنَعُونَ مِنْهُ أَنْفُسَكُمْ»

✧ My maternal uncle Jadd b. Qays carried me among seventy riders who came as a delegation to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from the Ansar. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us with his uncle al-Abbas b. Abd al-Muttalib and said: "O uncle, take the oath from your maternal nephews." The seventy said: "O Muhammad, ask for your Lord and for yourself whatever you wish." He said: "As for what I ask you for my Lord, that you worship Him and do not associate anything with Him. As for what I ask for myself, that you protect me from what you protect yourselves from."
