حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ثنا الْبَرَاءُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْغَنَوِيُّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ قَالَ لَمَّا
أَنْ حَضَرَهُ الْمَوْتُ بَكَى فَقَالُوا مَا يُبْكِيكَ؟ فَقَالَ وَاللهِ مَا أَبْكِي جَزَعًا مِنَ الْمَوْتِ وَلَا عَلَى دُنْيَا أُخَلِّفُهَا بَعْدِي وَلَكِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِنَّمَا هُمَا قَبْضَتَانِ فَقَبْضَةٌ فِي النَّارِ وَقَبْضَةٌ فِي الْجَنَّةِ فَلَا أَدْرِي مِنْ أَيِّ الْقَبْضَتَيْنِ أَكُونُ؟»

✧ When death came to him, he wept. They said: 'What makes you weep?' He said: 'By Allah, I do not weep out of fear of death, nor over a worldly life I leave behind me. But I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "They are only two handfuls: a handful in the Fire and a handful in Paradise, and I do not know in which of the two handfuls I will be."'
