حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ الصَّبَّاحِ الرَّقِّيُّ ثنا سَعْدُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ الْكُوفِيُّ ثنا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ النَّحْوِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ قَالَ
كُنْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «يَا مُعَاذُ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «فَإِنَّ حَقَّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا» ثُمَّ قَالَ «تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ»
Translation

✧ I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he said, “O Mu'adh, do you know what Allah's right upon the servants is?” I said, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He said, “Indeed, Allah's right upon the servants is that they worship Him and associate nothing with Him.” Then he said, “Do you know what the servants' right is if they do that?” I said, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He said, “That He will not punish them.”
