حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ قَالَ
كُنْتُ رَدِيفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى حِمَارٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ عُفَيْرٌ فَقَالَ لِي «يَا مُعَاذُ هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا وَحَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَ مَنْ لَا يُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا» فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَلَا أُبَشِّرُ النَّاسَ؟ فَقَالَ «لَا تُبَشِّرْهُمْ فَيَتَّكِلُوا»

✧ I was riding behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a donkey called 'Ufayr when he said to me: 'O Mu'adh, do you know what Allah's right upon the servants is? That they worship Him and do not associate anything with Him. And the servants' right upon Allah is that He will not punish anyone who does not associate anything with Him.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, shall I give the people glad tidings?' He said: 'Do not give them glad tidings, lest they rely on that alone.'
