حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ وَعَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنْبَاعِ رَوْحُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ قَالُوا ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَسْوَدِ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنِ الْمِسْوَرِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
«لَمَّا أَظْهَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْإِسْلَامَ أَسْلَمَ أَهْلُ مَكَّةَ كُلُّهُمْ وَذَلِكَ قَبْلَ أَنَّ تُفْرَضَ الصَّلَاةُ حَتَّى إِنْ كَانَ لَيَقْرَأُ السَّجْدَةَ فَيَسْجُدُونَ مَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَحَدُهُمْ أَنْ يَسْجُدَ مِنَ الزِّحَامِ» حَتَّى قَدِمَ رُؤَسَاءُ قُرَيْشٍ الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ وَأَبُو جَهْلِ بْنُ هِشَامٍ وَغَيْرُهُمَا وَكَانُوا بِالطَّائِفِ فِي أَرْضِهِمْ فَقَالُوا تَدَعُونَ دِينَ آبَائِكُمْ؟ فَكَفَرُوا

✧ “When the Messenger of God ﷺ proclaimed Islam openly, all the people of Makkah embraced it, and that was before the prayer was made obligatory, so much so that when he would recite a verse of prostration, they would prostrate, though none of them could even prostrate due to the crowding.” Until the leaders of Quraysh arrived — al-Walid b. al-Mughirah, Abu Jahl b. Hisham, and others — for they had been in al-Ta’if at their estates. They said, “Will you abandon the religion of your forefathers?” And so they disbelieved.
