حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ نَجْدَةَ الْحَوْطِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الذَّهَبِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الضَّبِّيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَجَاءَ قَالَا ثنا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ أَبِي الْجُوَيْرِيَةِ عَنْ مَعْنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ السُّلَمِيِّ قَالَ
بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَا وَأَبِي وَجَدِّي وَخَطَبَ عَلِيَّ فَأَنْكَحَنِي وَخَاصَمْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَفَلَجَنِي وَكَانَ أَبِي جَاءَ بِدِينَارَيْنِ يَتَصَدَّقُ بِهِمَا فَوَضَعَهُمَا عِنْدَ رَجُلٍ فَأَخَذْتُهُمَا فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِهِمَا فَقَالَ وَاللهِ مَا إِيَّاكَ أَرَدْتُ فَخَاصَمْتُهُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «لَكَ مَا نَوَيْتَ يَا يَزِيدُ وَلَكَ يَا مَعْنُ مَا أَخَذْتَ»

✧ I gave allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I, my father, and my grandfather. He proposed marriage on my behalf and gave me in marriage. I brought a dispute to him and he ruled in my favor. My father came with two dinars intending to give them in charity. He placed them with a man, and I took them and brought them to him. He said: “By Allah, I did not intend you.” I brought the dispute to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said: “You have what you intended, O Yazid, and you, O Ma'n, have what you took.”
