حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمُعَلَّى الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبْدُوسِ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ الصُّورِيُّ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ قَالُوا ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ثنا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ جُنَاحٍ ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ يَقُولُ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «الْخَيْرُ عَادَةٌ وَالشَّرُّ لَجَاجَةٌ» زَادَ ابْنُ بِنْتِ شُرَحْبِيلَ فِي حَدِيثِهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ «وَمَنْ يُرِدِ اللهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُفَقِّهْهُ فِي الدِّينِ»

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: “Goodness is a habit and evil is obstinacy.” Ibn Bint Shuraḥbīl added in his hadith from the Prophet ﷺ: “And whoever Allah wills good for, He grants him understanding in religion.”
