✧ He heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: A man transgressed against himself. He came to a man and said, “The other man killed ninety-nine people, all of them wrongfully. Is there any repentance for me?” He said, “No.” So he killed him. Then he came to another and said, “The other man killed a hundred people, all of them wrongfully. Is there any repentance for him?” He said, “If I told you that God does not accept the repentance of one who repents, I would have lied to you. Here is a place where there are people who worship. Go to them and worship God with them.” So he set out toward them and died on that path. The angels of mercy and the angels of punishment disputed over him, so God sent an angel to them and said, “Measure between the two places. Whichever he is closer to, he belongs to them.” They found him closer to the monastery of the penitents by a finger’s length, so he was forgiven. The wording is from the hadith of al-Walid.
