حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثنا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو شَيْخٍ حَدَّثَنِي حِمَّانُ قَالَ

حَجَّ مُعَاوِيَةُ فَدَعَا نَفَرًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فِي الْكَعْبَةِ فَقَالَ «أَنْشُدُكُمُ اللهَ أَلَمْ تَسْمَعُوا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الذَّهَبِ؟» قَالُوا اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ قَالَ «وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ أَلَمْ تَسْمَعُوا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْ صُفَفِ النُّمُورِ؟» قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ «وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ أَلَمْ تَسْمَعُوا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الْحَرِيرِ؟» قَالُوا اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ قَالَ «وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ»

✧ Mu‘āwiyah performed Hajj and summoned a group of the Anṣār inside the Ka‘bah. He said, “I adjure you by Allah, did you not hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbid gold?” They said, “O Allah, yes.” He said, “And I bear witness. Did you not hear that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade leopard saddle cloths?” They said, “Yes.” He said, “And I bear witness. Did you not hear that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade silk?” They said, “O Allah, yes.” He said, “And I bear witness.”
