al-Mu'jam al-Kabir (al-Tabarani) 169

✧ The genealogy of Ali b. Abi Talib "who participated in the Battle of Badr, son of Abd al-Muttalib b. Hashim, son of Abd Manaf b. Qusayy, son of Kilab b. Murrah, son of Ka'b b. Lu'ayy, son of Ghalib b. Fihr, son of Malik, with the kunya of Abu al-Hasan".

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ ثنا فِطْرُ بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ قَالَ دَعَاهُمْ عَلِيٌّ ؓ إِلَى الْبَيْعَةِ فَجَاءَ فِيهِمْ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُلْجَمٍ وَقَدْ كَانَ رَآهُ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ مَرَّتَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَالَ

مَا يُحْبَسُ أَشْقَاهَا وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَيَخْضِبَنَّ هَذِهِ مِنْ هَذِهِ وَتَمَثَّلَ بِهَذَيْنِ الْبَيْتَيْنِ

✧ "Its most wretched one will not be held back. By the One in whose hand is my soul, this will surely be dyed from this," and he recited these two lines of poetry.
