حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَبِيبٍ يَحْيَى بْنُ نَافِعٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ثنا دَاوُدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْعَطَّارُ حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَقَّاصٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

كُنْتُ جَالِسًا مَعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ فَلَمَّا أَذَّنَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ فَقَالَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ قَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ «هَكَذَا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ»

✧ I was sitting with Mu'awiyah, and when the muezzin gave the call to prayer and said, "I bear witness that there is no god but God," Mu'awiyah said, "I bear witness that there is no god but God." Then the muezzin said, "I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of God," and Mu'awiyah said, "I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of God." Then the muezzin said, "Come to prayer," and Mu'awiyah said, "There is no might and no power except with God." Then he said, "Come to success," and Mu'awiyah said, "There is no might and no power except with God." Then he said, "God is greatest, God is greatest," and Mu'awiyah said, "God is greatest, God is greatest." Then he said, "There is no god but God," and Mu'awiyah said, "There is no god but God." Then Mu'awiyah said, "This is how I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ."
