حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ ثنا عَفَّانُ ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَرَّةَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ قَالَ

قَدِمَ مُعَاوِيَةُ الْمَدِينَةَ فَقَامَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ وَفِي يَدِهِ عِقْصَةٌ مِنْ شَعَرٍ فَقَالَ مَا كُنْتُ أَرَى أَحَدًا يَصْنَعُ هَذَا لِأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ سَمَّاهُ الزُّورَ

Translation

✧ Muʿāwiyah came to Madinah and stood on the pulpit with a lock of hair in his hand. He said, “I did not think that anyone would do this, because the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called it false hair.”
